"The Forest and I" is a solo project that I, Rebecca Kruse Jensen, created with inspiration from my rich inner life and being in love with the forest’s underground and otherworldly spirit, from my every day life on beautiful Djursland.

The music mixes electronic instruments with the acoustic piano, and honest, poetic lyrics in Danish. Many years ago I also invented my own singing language, and now it feels like the interpretation of the language of the forest.

How does the music sound then?

Imagine a meeting in the nordic forest between the melancholic beauty of Agnes Obel and the poetic and rattling, DIY-vibe of Under Byen, while an electric storm rushes through the trees.

The experience is soulful and magical-authentic. It celebrates the richness of our emotions and how nature is ideal to contain it all, when we can’t.

I debuted with my first album "iik" twenty years ago, but it would take me some decades and three children, to develop enough integrity to fully embrace the music that has always lived inside of me. Now it's finally unfolding, which is why I had to give my re-debut the title (in Danish): It Takes Time To Unfold.
